One day, I saw the sleeves of one of the models in Verena magazine No. 3 (autumn 2012), and fell in love! Yes, yes, exactly the sleeves, I was not mistaken... This model with wonderful sleeves, my ideological inspirer!

Arabic patterns, kimono sleeves and the charming contours of a Peruvian poncho. It attracts the eye and conquers the whole world for you.

Of course, in the form of a cropped sweater, the model also looks very good, I agree. But for some reason I immediately wanted to knit a tunic dress, so that I could simply wear it with tights and boots, and with jeans, trousers, and a skirt, in general, I wanted the thing to be universal, warm and cozy! All that's left is to choose the colors...

I found warm threads in my bins in the following shades - warm yellow (Alize Cashmira, 100% Virginia wool, 300 meters in 100 g, it took about 5 skeins) and dark chocolate (Yarn Art Pure Merino, 100% Virginia wool, 140 meters in 50 g, it took about 3 skeins). I also wanted the dress to be thick, so I chose knitting needles No. 2.5 (the manufacturer recommends knitting with knitting needles No. 4.5-5 mm). From the model presented in the magazine, I took only the jacquard pattern diagram; the rest was knitted, as they say, from my head. I really like what happened in the end... Admire it too :)

I didn’t write down a description as I knitted, but I’ll describe a few main points... As you can see from the diagram below, the repeat of the jacquard pattern consists of 36 loops, I got 3 repeats in width (for size 36, or in our opinion, 42), that is together with the edge stitches I cast on 110 stitches. Since the jacquard still tightens the knitted fabric a little, and I wanted a dress with a straight silhouette, after the jacquard pattern was finished, I evenly decreased 10 loops, that is, the main yellow fabric was knitted on 100 loops. There are no armholes, just straight fabric, you can knit the neckline in any of your favorite ways. For the sleeves, 110 stitches were also cast on, but two repeats of the jacquard pattern were knitted upward, resulting in three-quarter length sleeves. After that, I evenly decreased 10 loops (it turned out to be 100 loops), and knitted several rows with the main yellow color (so that when sewing with the back and front, there would be one color). I knitted the neckline with regular garter stitch (all rows with knit stitches), and then finished the joint with a chain stitch (2 rows) with threads Brown.

Last year I knitted a snood from these brown threads, it went perfectly with the dress, in my opinion...

And if you lift the jacquard part onto your hips (the fabric is dense, thanks to this it holds perfectly on the hips), you will get a nice sweater... In general, the model I got was not even two in one, but three in one - a dress-tunic-sweater!

Tunic is traditional clothes ancient Romans, often consisting of a one-piece fabric with holes for the arms and head. Today, the tunic dress has changed significantly, becoming more elegant and feminine, and therefore has taken its place of honor in the wardrobe of almost every fashionista.

Women's knitted tunic is universal clothing, the creation of which opens up unprecedented horizons for the manifestation of imagination. Knitting and crocheting patterns for women's tunics are very diverse - these include openwork patterns, and braided braids, and original contrasting patterns of different levels of complexity (for professional knitters and for beginner knitters). The main difference between a tunic and a sweater or jumper is its length - it must be just below the hip. That is why knitted tunics for women go perfectly with leggings or skinny jeans. Depending on the type of yarn, crocheted or knitted tunics can delight their owners both in summer and in cool weather. Description of knitting a tunic with a jacquard pattern

Back and front: on circular needles No. 4.5, with a thread of the main color 1, cast on 160 (168) 176 (184) sts and knit 6 r. with an elastic band (= alternately knit 2, purl 2).

Switch to circular needles No. 5.5 and knit according to the pattern.

At the beginning of the circular row, make a mark to indicate the place where the color of the thread and pattern changes (you can make marks on both sides along the lines of the side seams + on the back and front in the middle to monitor the symmetrical distribution of the pattern relative to the middle loop).

When the length of the part is approximately 54 (55) 56 (57) cm, close off 5 sts on each side for the armholes = 75 (79) 83 (87) sts for the front and 75 (79) 83 (87) sts for backs (watch for a symmetrical distribution of the pattern relative to the middle).

Then postpone the work temporarily.

Sleeves: on stocking needles No. 4.5, with a thread of the main color 1, cast on 36 (40) 44 (44) sts and knit 6 r. with an elastic band (= alternately knit 2, purl 2).

Switch to needles No. 5.5 and add 1 stitch on the first needle.

Where to start knitting the sleeve pattern according to the pattern, determine by the back and front, measuring down from the edge of the armhole 29 (30) 31 (32) cm = the beginning of the pattern for the sleeve.

Make a mark at the beginning of the circular row to indicate where the thread color will change.

At the same time, every 6th r. after the elastic band, add 2 p. - 1 p. after the first loop and 1 p. before the last loop (knit the first and last loops with a thread of the main color), in total, increase 7 (8) 9 (9) times = 51 (57 ) 59 (63) p.

When the sleeve is knitted up to the pattern (inclusive) at the level of the front and back armholes, close off the middle 4 sts on the inside of the sleeve = 47 (53) 55 (59) sts.

Knit the second sleeve in the same way.

Yoke: connect sleeve loops with front and back loops, transferring them to circular needles over closed armhole loops = 244 (264) 276 (292) sts.

Mark the beginning and end of the parts with marks = 4 marks.

Knit 1 p. in a circle with a pattern without decreases, then perform raglan decreases as described above.

Continue decreasing stitches on both sides of the marks every 2nd row. – decrease in total 19 (21) 22 (24) times = on knitting needles 92 (96) 100 (100) loops.

Neck trim: switch to circular needles No. 4.5 and knit in the round 6 r. with an elastic band and a thread of the main color 1 (= alternately knit 2, purl 2).

Fasten the ends of the threads. Sew in the sleeves. Steam the product.

The tunic looks no worse than the traditional one knitted jacket! A transverse contrasting pattern forms a wide yoke and decorates the sleeves, making the tunic, despite its straightness, unusually feminine.
