Craft accessories for Santa Claus. DIY Santa Claus costume and attributes

Today we will make with our own hands the main character of the New Year - Santa Claus. We have collected for you best ideas and master classes. All materials are elementary, and the diagrams are simple and understandable - even children can handle it. Get inspired and get to work!

With ready-made toys you can decorate a Christmas tree or table, place them under the New Year's tree or hang them on the window. In addition, a homemade Santa Claus is one of the best additions to a gift.

We invite you to try making this fairy-tale character from felt, paper and a bottle.

Santa Claus made of felt

Felt toys are always very popular. First of all, this material is very beautiful. Secondly, it is convenient to use. Thirdly, standard felt crafts are always sewn according to patterns, and therefore making even the most unusual souvenir is not so difficult.

Our Santa Claus is also very easy to sew. A little effort - and you will get a wonderful New Year's souvenir that will perfectly complete the gift for loved one or decorate the Christmas tree.

What do we need?

  • pieces of red (or blue), white, nude and green felt
  • red and white threads for sewing
  • some cotton wool for stuffing
  • beads and any other decor

First you need to make a pattern. Take a look at what the details look like. You can draw them or print out the drawing and simply cut out all the parts of the future Santa Claus from paper.

Transfer the template to felt. It is better to take red, blue or blue felt as a basis - we will make a fur coat and a hat from it. Let the beard and mustache be white, and let the face and nose be flesh-colored. The edging for the hat can be made green or white - try on whichever you like best.

We put the large parts together and sew them together with red or white thread from the front side. When connecting the backing and the outer part, add a little cotton wool inside so that Santa Claus “grows” a small tummy - it looks very cute and funny.

Small parts and decor can be glued rather than sewn on. However, see for yourself what is more convenient. New Year's craft you can decorate with beads (you can also make eyes from them), small foamiran details, plastic snowflakes and flowers, embroidery, etc.

Try making several Santa Clauses at once. Sewing several identical figures at the same time is much easier than making toys one at a time. Sew at once and decorate each one separately to make it more interesting and make the crafts a little different from each other.

Santa Claus made of paper

This is the simplest option for making the main symbol of the New Year. The process of “assembling” it can be great fun for children.

The finished toy is an excellent decoration for the table. Place these crafts next to each guest's plate and hide a candy or tangerine inside. This small but very pleasant surprise will immediately create a New Year's mood.

By the way, you can increase the size of Santa Claus and hide someone’s gift under it!

What do we need?

  • red cardboard or thick paper
  • White paper
  • glue stick
  • colour pencils

We make a square out of red cardboard. Coat one edge with glue.

Roll the square into a cone and press the edge tightly.

We cut off the excess.

On a white sheet of paper we draw arbitrary shapes, a little reminiscent of the beard of Santa Claus.

We will make a hole in the center: such that the beard will fit through to a certain level of the cone. We do not throw away the cut off part.

Let's draw the face, eyes, outlines of the mustache and beard.

We will make pompoms from the cut out circles.

It is very convenient to do such crafts at the same time: fold the paper into a stack and cut it out at once. If you want a more durable product, replace paper with cardboard. If desired, you can cover it with fabric and various decorative elements.

Santa Claus from a bottle

In this master class, the basis of our favorite New Year's character will be a bottle. It doesn't matter which one. You can decorate a bottle of champagne with an image of Santa Claus New Year's table either as a gift, or simply transform an empty bottle and put it under the Christmas tree.

You can also use a plastic bottle as a basis. Just keep in mind that the structure will not be very stable. In this case, you can pour small pebbles or cereals inside.

From scrap materials

Since this is a “personal” wizard, we will make it from everything that is at hand, namely: from a can of tomato paste, foam plastic, plasticine, scraps of fabric and padding polyester, sushi sticks, “yolks” from Kinder surprises . You will also need thread and a needle, scissors, a line corrector, and red nail polish.

We make boots from “yolks” from Kinder surprises.

We make a body and legs from a can, foam plastic, and plasticine.

We cover the body with padding polyester.

We make “skin” from beige knitwear.

We paint the legs with concealer.

We sew pants.

We try on a mustache and beard from padding polyester and make a nose.

Sew it on.

We cover the boots with fabric.

We insert the legs into the boots.

We cut out the handles.

We sew on the button eyes and put the cap on the head.

And for our wizard to become truly magical, we’ll put a bag on his shoulder. You can put sweets in it.

Every morning the child will take out a new surprise from it.

How to sew Santa Claus

Santa Claus made of cardboard and colored paper

The basis of the future Santa Claus is cardboard. You can use a toilet paper roll - then Santa Claus will turn out to be small, or a paper towel base - then you can make him tall. Or you can make a base from any cardboard of the desired size by rolling it up.

What you will need:

  • cardboard;
  • red paper;
  • White paper;
  • cotton pads;
  • buttons;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

Lubricate the selected cardboard base with glue.

Wrap it in colored paper, leaving space for the face.

Then cut out a beard from a cotton pad.

Glue it to the right place.

We are preparing a hat for Santa Claus. We make a cone out of red paper, securing the ends with glue.

Decorate the cap with the remains of the cotton pad. Glue cotton wool onto the tip of the cap and along its edge.

We grease the inner edge of the cap with glue so that it holds tightly, and we dress it for Santa Claus.

We cut out two mittens from white paper and glue them to the sides.

We draw the face with colored pencils or paints. Then glue the cotton mustache.

We decorate the front of Santa Claus's fur coat with buttons. They can be glued or placed on plasticine. This is such a cute Grandfather Frost!

For the next craft we need red napkins.

You can take any image of Santa Claus, as long as it is the right size.

Or you can download and print our version presented below in A4 format. There are three here different sizes, can be selected according to the size of the napkins.

Print out the required quantity.

Cut it out.

Take red napkins.

Fold the napkin as shown in the photo.

We make a cut where Santa Claus's hat is, and insert a corner of the napkin. Roll a small ball out of cotton wool and decorate the hat.

Ours is ready! It can be stolen festive table and surprise your dear guests.

DIY Santa Claus

Napkin with Santa Claus

In this master class I will show you how to knit a napkin with an image of Santa Claus.

For knitting a stand in the form Christmas decorations we will need any yarn of medium thickness of any dark color (otherwise the applique will merge with the background color), hook No. 1, denim yarn white, pieces of felt with adhesive backing, decorative bow, two beads, scissors.

We collect 4 air loops from blue yarn and close them into a ring with a connecting loop.

We knit the first row with single crochet stitches, inserting the tool into the hole of the ring. The number of stitches does not matter, the main thing is that the knitting does not bend. We also close the row with a connecting loop.

We also knit the next rows with single crochets. To prevent the knitting from curling at the edges, it is necessary to periodically make additions. We make additions in each row, but their number will vary depending on the numbering of the row. For example, in the second row we make 3-4 additions, in the third – 4-5 and so on. The number of increases may vary depending on the yarn, so the main thing is to ensure that the knitting does not curl and the increases are at an equal distance from each other.

The total number of rows for the base is 5-6. You can make more if you want the diameter of the stand to be larger.

In the next row, use a thread or a yellow marker to mark 4 points that are equidistant from each other. In this row we also knit single crochets, but at the points marked for us we knit three single crochets in one loop.

We knit the third row in the same way as the second.

After this we will tie the edge of the stand. To do this, we attach white yarn to the edge of the circle and knit the following pattern: 3 chain stitches for lifting, 1 double crochet in the same loop, 3 chain stitches, “picot” from these three air loops, 2 double crochets in the same loop.

We repeat the pattern to the end of the row, only instead of 3 chain loops we knit a double crochet.

After this, we knit single crochets in the same way as we did when knitting the warp.

Cut out a “bucket” and a “carrot” from pieces of felt with adhesive backing.

We form eyes from beads, sew all the details and glue them to the base so that we get a snowman.

Our napkin is ready!

How to crochet a Santa Claus applique

What is New Year without the main wizard? Santa Claus is an obligatory guest in every home. Therefore, today we will crochet an applique in the form of Santa Claus!

For knitting we need:

  • red, white and peach yarn;
  • hook;
  • scissors;
  • black polymer clay or 2 black beads.

Let's start knitting with an amigurumi ring of 6 loops. To do this, we need to knit 2 ch and in the 2nd of them, from the hook, make 6 sc.. At the beginning of a new row, we form 2 lifting loops, since we will then knit dc.. Then in the next 3 loops we knit 3 dc..

At this stage, change the color of the thread to peach or beige, pink. We do not cut the white thread, but simply lay it behind the loops. And in the remaining 3 loops we knit 3 dc.

We knit 1 ss into the 2nd lifting loop. Change the thread again to a white one and do not cut the peach thread. We knit 2 dc only in white loops.

In the new row we make 1 ch and unfold the knitting. Now we perform 1 sc in each loop along the peach loops. Now change the thread to red. We cut the white thread.

Then we unroll the knitting and make 2 stitches. Next we will knit like this: skip 1 loop and knit 1 dc to the last loop. We don’t knit it, but skip it. Turn around and make 2 ch, then knit 1 decrease and knit to the end, don’t knit the last stitch, turn around and make 1 stitch.

We knit a beard. To do this, use a white thread to join the white loops in the corner. Cast on 3 sts, then knit 4 dc into the same loop. In the next loop we perform 1 sc. We skip the loop and knit 5 dc in a new loop. Next 2 sc, then skip the loop and again perform 5 dc. We knit like this until the end of the row.

We join the cap with a red thread and tie the edges of the sc. You can add a lurex thread to the main yarn. The cap will shine around the edges.

Now we join the top of the hat with white yarn. We form 3 points. Next we knit 7 unknitted dcs. And now we grab the thread and knit only 2 loops from the hook. Then we grab the thread again and also knit only 2 loops. We knit 2 loops at a time until everything is knitted. This is a pompom.

Now let's make the mustache. We collect a chain of 5 ch. Then we knit 1 sbn, 1sbn, 1 hdc, in the last we knit 1 sbn and 1 ssn. And again ch 6 and repeat the action.

Sew on the antennae and polymer clay making eyes. You can take 2 small beads. Or you can embroider the eyes with black yarn.

Who is the main symbol of the New Year? I believe this is Santa Claus. This old man pleases us with gifts and magic. What else do we expect from this holiday? Well, since we have already made Christmas trees, glued them, sewed them, then we definitely need to make Morozko.

Moreover, there are also many ideas for this. We will select options for every taste and for any material. After all, what is the most important thing in this craft? That's right, red hat and white beard. And that’s it, a guest from Veliky Ustyug is coming to us for a holiday. Well, for those who are closer to Santa Claus, there will also be ideas.

In general, it’s time for us to create and be inspired!

First, let's look at what creative individuals tried to make Grandfather out of. What happened to them at the first moment of creative thought? And for some reason I wanted to start the article with large interior and volumetric crafts.

Santa Claus from cups

These Frosts inspired me. All are made using the same technique, but how different they are, it’s simply amazing!

The combination of red and white cups immediately brings to mind who it is. Look what beards are made of: cotton wool, cotton pads, paper, yarn.

And this Grandfather even has a beard made from cups.

So how do you make them? Let's look at the diagram. Draw the blank on paper with the diameter you choose. We will immediately lay out the equator of our ball. The larger the diameter, the larger the ball!

Then we lay out the cups along the line. We fasten them with a stapler and make a second, third row, removing 1-2 pieces from each layer to make a circle.

Or here’s an option where you only need one glass.

For the body we used a toilet paper or paper towel roll.

From candy

Next we have simple crafts and gifts with candies and lollipops. Remember, we looked at, and so there are also ideas with Frost and candies. I won't repeat myself. True, I found only one diagram. I am attaching it.

I was amused by the idea of wood. It turns out that to create, you just need to take the right paint colors.

From the cones

Once we started about natural materials, then here are some ideas from the cones.

If there are a lot of cones, then you can do the same for Big Frost. But, of course, this craft is not for one day.

Another interesting option is made from napkins. From a distance, they also resemble cones.

Maybe someone likes to felt wool? Then here is a craft for you as an example with step-by-step actions.

This drawing was used as a basis.

Let's start with the body.

Using it we make a pattern from red fabric, leaving room for the head.

Turn it inside out and sew it together. We put it on a body made of wool.

Tighten the bottom edges with thread.

We make a hat, fur and beard.

Made from plaster or salt dough

Nowadays it is fashionable to make crafts from plaster. But for those who have children under five years old, it is better to make salt dough.

And you need to make an imprint of an outstretched palm, look.

Making a palm print. Dry the material.

Mark the drawing.

And we will implement it in colors.

We thread the string through the hole and hang it on the tree.

I’m sharing with you my discovery of popsicle sticks.

From threads

Have you ever seen the technique of pulling thread through nails? So, for those who are interested, these are the frosties you can create.

And with the help of a cone base and yarn, a very simple, but interesting craft.

  • felt,
  • heat gun,
  • yarn,
  • paper cone,
  • decor.

First, let's start with this felt face.

We cut out the necessary parts and glue them with hot glue.

Now we need to make a cone out of paper and wrap it with threads to make it look like this. Make sure there are no gaps.

The edges need to be well fixed with glue.

Let's put the craft together and don't forget about the handles.

From disposable plates

Yes, many people definitely have this improvised material lying around in their kitchens. Great craft idea for kids.

For this master class you will only need part of the plate. It will act as a sleigh.

Let's now take a step-by-step look at how frosting is made.

Take a plate and cut off 1/4 of it. Paint the inside, where the flat and smooth part is beige.

Take a red paper triangle and glue a plate onto it. All that remains is to form the eyes, mustache and pompoms.

Look what a cool beard Grandfather can make from disposable spoons.

And even eyebrows can be made from them.

Of course, there is an idea made from plasticine. Everything is shown in detail in the photo instructions.

If you happen to have a sheet of foam plastic at home, here’s what can come out of it.

I had it lying around plastic bottle for water, dress it up too.

Well, and one more thing cool option with one plastic spoon, cotton pad and yarn.

Take a spoon and cut off a stalk from it. We wrap the edge with thread. And coat the convex side with glue. Roll up the cotton pad. And glue it onto the spoon. All that remains is to add the missing elements.

How to make a craft from nylon tights, master class in video

There is a cool idea for creating dolls using the stocking technique. Unfortunately, I am not a master at this, so I am providing a master class in video format.

And here I’ll give you an idea from a sock

You can make a body without handles. The main thing is that it is sustainable.

Well, do you often find balloons in your house? They also make wonderful Santa Clauses.

That's not all. We can say that we are only at the very beginning of the journey!

Patterns for Santa Claus made of fabric (tilde)

Now I'll give you a lot of patterns. There are ideas using the Tilda technique, and there are just patterns for soft toys.

Knitted Morozko and patterns

Now options for crafts for those craftswomen who knit. I liked these non-standard Morozushki. And it doesn’t matter that none of them is wearing a red hat; you still can’t confuse them with anyone else.

This selection shows how to knit such beauties.

Of course, there is a scheme.

The idea is the same, but here the crochet pattern is different.

You can also make a three-dimensional Santa.

Or just cross-stitch it.

We'll talk more about embroidery below. There will be enough diagrams there.

Video on how to make Grandfather from cotton wool

In our childhood, Father Frost and the Snow Maiden were made from cotton wool. If you miss those times, then here is a master class for you. It is presented in video format to eliminate all possible questions, because the craft is complex.

Of course, here you need to practice a little, but it’s still not that easy.

Simple paper crafts

Of course, we will now make crafts from paper and cardboard. There is simply nowhere without this. This is the most accessible material for us. Especially if children make crafts.

In addition to this Frost, you can decorate the windows. For example, using this stencil.

Cones make a lot of different ideas. In the photo below you will see detailed master class How to create such funny Frosts. This cone pattern can be used for any other crafts.

Well, here’s another great idea made from cardboard and paper. The main thing is what kind of beard turns out to be gorgeous with 0 rings!

And these little grandfathers can even be hung on the Christmas tree. I really loved the bow mustache idea.

Here are more cone blanks.

Based on them, such crafts are made.

Or you can simplify the task. And make the base yourself. The main thing is to secure the edges of the cone well so that they do not unravel.

Another fun craft and a master class for it.

Now for a more complex idea. This Frost is made from two paper balls.

Such balls are made according to this scheme. By the way, you can do it at the same time.

For those who are familiar with the quilling technique, here are some ideas.

From corrugated paper and sweets, you can make an individual gift for each party participant.

I laughed at this craft. How funny Santa turned out.

The hat folded like an accordion is simply incomparable. Both volume and relief are created at once.

Another craft with a curly beard.

You can create such an interesting Frost from cardboard.

Idea for little kids! Use your own stencils for crafts.

This craft can be made from pieces of paper or plasticine balls.

Hello Santa from Peppa Pig!

Our parents keep making crafts and crafts. And we thank them and take them into service!

Now I'll give you a few stencils for gift boxes with elements of Santa Claus.

And I almost forgot to show you these pendants.

You can also make them as postcards.

Making crafts from cotton pads for kindergarten children

Of course, it’s very easy to make crafts from cotton pads. For example, like this Frost. You just need to prepare the materials in advance. So that there is enough for each child. and there are usually about 30 of them in kindergarten groups.

Idea for home creativity.

It is very easy to glue paper and cotton pads with PVA glue. Moreover, this is the safest type of glue. It can be used for creativity even by the smallest children.

This option was in the first section, but I decided to remind you.

Santa Claus's beard can be very useful at various matinees.

Put on a red cap and a red T-shirt and young Santa Claus is ready. Or Santa Claus.

DIY Santa Claus made from felt

Certainly, ! They don’t make anything out of it! And definitely a lot of patterns and templates. Let's get started, please!

This is your first master class. This is a Christmas tree toy. You can, of course, play with it like that, but it’s too unstable.

Pattern for Santa Claus.

These crafts simply amaze with their thoroughness and presentability.

There may be several patterns for them. For example, this one.

It also turns out to be such a Morozushko.

For the cap, take this diagram.

The next pattern for the pendants.

Now detailed instructions How to sew such a boot for gifts.

A very unusual idea. You can use not only felt, but also fabric.

Another template for inspiration.

You can make a lot of wreaths. They are suitable as decor for any room.

This Frost will not leave anyone indifferent. It can also be used as a pendant, because the hat has a convenient hole for this.

For decoration you can make several New Year's symbols: Christmas tree, star, Christmas ball, deer, etc.

Fantasy is limitless. Therefore, based on one pattern, you can create many new ones.

What attracted me to this craft were the bells. How festive they ring!

You can also make three-dimensional and flat figures. I provide patterns for both.

This Frost is very similar to the New Year's gnome, but does not lose its relevance and charm at all!

In general, only your imagination is important. And we will provide you with the diagrams!

How do you like this craft using bushings?

There is nothing complicated here and you don’t even need to sew anything.

How to quickly and easily make Santa Claus from a bottle

So, the bottles are different. Someone decorates the beauty with champagne. And someone creates something out of a plastic water container.

Of course, if we are talking about children, then we will take a closer look at the ideas. Here, for example, is a stand for office supplies or small toys.

Or just an interesting craft for decoration.

Santa can be the packaging for a child's sweet gift.

For inspiration, here are more options for oldies.

Cotton swabs come in handy too!

I think that a child can choose for himself what idea he wants to bring to life.

Santa Claus for New Year from origami

Origami is popular among schoolchildren. This is a bit difficult for small children. We once tried to make a dog with a child of about 18 years old, he understands everything, but it’s not possible to repeat it a bit. Therefore, this section is for those who are older.

There will be several master classes. All with step by step description work.

Diagram with arms and legs.

Familiar with technology modular origami? There, first many blanks of the same shape are made. and from them a craft is formed.

The following is a step-by-step diagram.

Another option.

Detailed step by step photos won't let you get confused.

How do you like this option?

And the Santa Clauses have already gone.

Well, one more variation.

In general, attentiveness is important here.

New Year Card Ideas

Finally, let's look at ideas for postcards with our character. It can be flat, three-dimensional, monochrome or colorful. Small or big. It depends on you! The main thing is the mood in which you created it!

Use different techniques and unusual shapes.

Combine different materials: pompoms, buttons, paper and cardboard, wood and wire.

And also several drawings to create a postcard. you can simply print them out and give them as a gift by signing your wishes on back side. They can also be used as window decorations.

Here is the simplest card idea that you can create together with your child.

For inspiration, you can look at crafts and just take their outline.

The postcard itself may be different forms, it can expand, shrink, or simply open.

Or it may be in the form of an envelope.

As you can see, there are no restrictions anywhere, it’s just important to think through the composition, prepare the materials and start creating! I wish you health and every success.

  • Flour paste
  • PVA glue
  • Cotton wool/cotton pads
  • Paints
  • Scissors
  • Plastic bottle

How to make Santa Claus from cotton wool

Wet cotton pads with paste and stick to the bottle around its entire perimeter.

Now you need to let the glue dry. You can leave the craft for a while, or you can speed up the process with a hairdryer.

Cover with red paint so that there are no gaps. You may need more than one layer

Use cotton wool to make an edge on your fur coat and hat. draw the eyes, nose and mouth of Santa Claus from cotton wool with your own hands.

The belt can be made from fabric or regular tape.

Let's make a beard and mustache for our Santa Claus from cotton wool. We also glue it with glue. Before each new stage, it is necessary to give the workpiece time to dry.

Now you know how to make Santa Claus from cotton wool step by step, but so that he doesn’t get bored, don’t forget to make his granddaughter the Snow Maiden in this way.

You can make a braid from knitting threads

Who knew that these days they would be fashionable? Christmas decorations from the childhood of our parents and grandmothers, and that people will buy them for unrealistic money. One of these toys is Grandfather Frost made of cotton wool, which stands under the Christmas tree and in New Year's Eve brings us gifts.

It turns out that it is not at all necessary to run around flea markets and overpay. You can make this Santa Claus yourself. To do this you need to stock up on patience, time and mood.

For work you will need

Materials:

  • cotton wool (it should be in layers, not lumps);
  • glue (starch + water);
  • wire for frame;
  • toilet paper (for papier-mâché);
  • foil for blanks;
  • paints (acrylic and watercolor);
  • wooden stand;
  • padding polyester;
  • threads

Tools:

  • wire cutters;
  • brushes (hard – for glue, synthetic brushes No. 6 flat, No. 1 round – for painting);
  • scissors;
  • sewing needle.

Before starting work on making Santa Claus, we prepare a lot of papier-mâché. Add a tablespoon (without top) of starch to half a glass of cold water and bring to a boil. Separately tear into small pieces toilet paper. Add paper to the resulting warm glue and rub the resulting mass well with your fingers. It should be like dough.

Beginning of work

Head. Most the best option, if we find a head from an old Santa Claus doll at home. But it’s not always possible to find such wealth in our apartment, so we’ll use what we have on hand. We will need food foil 50-60 cm long. We make a large ball out of it and begin to crush it to the size and shape of a chicken egg.

Where Santa Claus's eyes should be, we press the beads. We put a layer of papier-mâché on our blank. Very important to know! – each layer of papier-mâché must dry well. Then we make a “carrot” from the mixture and smear it where the nose is. We make small balls - we get cheeks, chin, forehead. Don't forget to dry.

Now we apply a little of our mass in the eye area and form the eyelids. After the face is ready, we sculpt the back of the head. We dry everything well and sand the face of Santa Claus with sandpaper.

The head is ready, now we need to paint the face. Let's take it acrylic paint white or ivory, add to it pink color. You can add watercolors. Stir and get the color we need for Santa Claus's face. Apply the paint with a flat synthetic brush No. 6. We make 4-5 layers. Dry each layer well. Paint the eyes with round brush No. 1. Apply pink paint to a sponge or piece of foam rubber and swab the cheeks.

Torso. We calculate the proportions as follows: the height of Santa Claus should fit six of our heads. For the frame we will need, preferably, three-core braided copper wire.

We cut the braid between the wires from above to shoulder level. We will put the head on the middle pin at the top, and bend the two side wires horizontally - we get shoulders, then we bend it down, and we get a frame for the arms. We make a loop in the area of the palms. From below we cut the braid to the line of the hips, bend it horizontally - we get hips, and bend the wire down - these will be our Grandfather’s legs. We lift the middle part of the wire up, strengthening the spine. We immediately bend our arms slightly at the elbows.

We cut the padding polyester into ribbons 3 cm wide. And we begin to tightly wrap our frame. We wrap the neck, shoulders, arms (separately), torso. Santa Claus's hands will be in mittens, so at the same time we use padding polyester to give the ends of the wire the desired shape.

In the lower part of our Santa Claus doll, the legs will not be visible from under the suit, so you should wrap two legs together with padding polyester until you get a blank for the suit. For this procedure we will need 50-60 cm of padding polyester. We take a needle and thread and secure our design with stitches. Having received such a torso, we see that our Grandfather Frost begins to take on a human appearance.

Cloth. Now let's start working with cotton wool. This technique is called cotton papier-mâché. To begin, prepare the glue in the same way as for papier-mâché, only add a little blue or blue watercolor paint to the glue. As a result, when the cotton dries, it will have a cool, bluish tint, like snow.

  • We lay out the first layer of clothing on the doll itself. We spread the cotton wool in a thin layer (5-7mm) on the table, and, using a brush, coat it well with glue. The pieces of cotton wool should be small. First we form a hat on the head of Santa Claus. We smooth it with our fingers so that the joints are not visible. Important: dry thoroughly. Using the same principle, we make mittens, sleeves (from mittens to shoulders) and a suit on the body of Santa Claus. We iron our dress thoroughly and dry it.
  • Second layer. Before doing this, you need to prepare a layer of cotton wool measuring 50*50 cm. Lay the cotton wool on the table in a thin layer (5-7mm), coat it well with glue and leave to dry. While the cotton wool dries, on a separate sheet of paper we draw up costume patterns for our Santa Claus. We transfer these patterns to an already dried layer of cotton wool.

We will get the following details:

  • hat, cap lapel;
  • eyebrows, mustache, beard;
  • sleeves, sleeve cuff;
  • mittens;
  • front half of the suit;
  • back half of the suit;
  • cuffs at the bottom of the suit;
  • lapel along the side of the suit;
  • collar;
  • belt.

The above parts must be cut out with scissors and again soaked well with glue. This will be our final, top layer of clothing. We begin to “dress” the doll, immediately laying out the folds and draperies of the clothes. We smooth it well with our fingers and let it dry.

Stand. We take a wooden board measuring 15*15 cm, make two holes in it (to glue the wire from the legs). We prepare a layer of cotton wool, 20*20 cm in size, soak it with glue and place it on our stand. If necessary, there can be two or three such layers. Dry well. There is no need to paint the stand; cotton wool perfectly imitates snow.

We dye the clothes of Santa Claus, while taking into account that this technique is very valuable natural color cotton wool. Where necessary, apply shadows with paint.

Completion of the production of Santa Claus

The final touch remains. We glue our cotton Santa Claus into the stand, give him a staff in his hands - it can be a sushi stick wrapped in thread, a bag with gifts - we make it according to the principle of cotton papier-mâché.

Also, for Santa Claus you need a Christmas tree, which can be made from beads. (You can find out how to do it by).

We are pleased to admire the work done and welcome the New Year.
